A matrix is defined as a properly contoured piece of metal or other material used to support and give form to the restoration during its placement & hardening. Metal bands are secured around the crown
of a tooth to confine the restorative material filling a cavity.
The primary function of the matrix is to restore anatomical contours contact areas. They are all designed to be placed between the tooth being restored & adjacent tooth to help create the outside contour of the restorative material.
Our Aver® Matrix Bands are used to form the interproximal surfaces when fabricating a direct restoration. They are placed for interproximal restorations to aid in restoring normal contour & contact areas and to prevent extrusion of restorative materials into gingival tissues.
